Playroom Fun

Since J has been born it has been like a whirlwind around here.  We've just been trying to establish our new normal and every time I think we have a grasp on it life proves me wrong haha.  I've been trying to make a point lately to get into the playroom and do more activities with the boys.  L will sometimes object to being photographed, but he's been doing paintings on the light panel in the mornings sometimes.

Everything is new to J and he loves to explore it all.  He was entertained for at least 45 minutes the other day with play dough on the light panel.  It was pretty adorable to watch his little mind at work.
He also really enjoyed our basket of shells.  L used to sit for hours and play with his baskets of shells and rocks.

Park

We've been really sick here lately.  As a matter of fact, L had to go to the ER this past week and get IV fluids for dehydration.  :(  It was really sad to watch him go through that, but he handled it like a champ.

He isn't quite back to 100%, but today was the closest he's been to being well in a week so we went to the park for a little bit.  L really liked being able to swing next to J, and J loved it as well.

After he was done swinging, L wanted to explore the woods behind the playground.  We found a stream with mud and rocks, which is always awesome.  Then we spotted 5 deer across the stream and they didn't seem to be afraid of us at all.  They just watched us while they ate, it was really cool.  So we crossed the stream to get a better look and they just hung out.  If we got within touching distance they would move but otherwise they would just hang out with us.  L thought it was really cool although he was afraid they would try to wrestle with him haha.  He wrestles with our dog, Dori a lot so I guess he thought that a deer would be pretty intimidating to wrestle with.

I promise the water on his butt is from the swing lol.  Shortly after that we went back to the car for a juice break and then L was ready to go home.  Normally he would have stayed out there all day, but he's not quite feeling back to 100% yet so we came home and rested for most of the evening.
At one point L requested popcorn this evening and after it became clear that he only requested it so that he could play with it we broke out the sensory bin and let him and J go to town.  J needed a few reminders to keep it out of his mouth but he caught on really quickly as usual.  :)

My Hot Date

So I decided to take L on a date recently.  It had been so long since we had gotten time together with just the two of us, and we both really needed it.  My husband was able to watch baby J for a few hours while L and I went out.  L walked around the house saying "Hot date" all day because I told him we'd be going on a date later, it was pretty cute.  He chose to go to the park and to the movies.  At the park we watched the ducks and then threw rocks in the lake, he had a blast looking for rocks and I loved getting to give him my undivided attention.

After the movie L and I walked by a river that was near the theater and then we found another park to play on.  I didn't take many pictures during the date because I wanted to give him all of my attention, but I was able to snap a few shots at this park and man he's getting to be such a big boy!

That was definitely one of the best dates I've ever been on.

My sweet husband also brought me home flowers recently and I love them!  I smile every time I look at them.

Fingerpainting

Today I rolled out some paper on our carport and set up some finger paint.  L had a blast making a mess.  He really got into painting his legs this time.

After we cleaned up, Baby J found some fingerpaint that had spilled onto the carport and he had a fun time playing in it.

It's Been Forever

So, life has been overwhelming lately, but in a good way.  Baby J has grown up a lot since the last time I blogged.  He even has 2 teeth now.

I think he's so stinking adorable and his smile just lights up my day.  L has grown up a lot too, he got a new haircut that is just adorable.  I love this next picture because it kind of sums up who he is at home.  He's been outside playing so he's dirty, he absolutely loves marshmallows and he's a fan of not wearing clothes...especially not pants...oh and he's holding Finn McMissile which is one of his favorite cartoon characters of all time (along with Lightening McQueen and Mater).

One day this winter we were able to bundle up and play in the snow.  We weren't able to stay out long though because J's face got really cold and he wasn't very happy with that.

L got a new lawnmower that he absolutely loves.

One day baby J fell asleep in his jumperoo and it cracked me up because he started jumping again in his sleep, which woke him up and he continued to jump, until he fell asleep again haha.
Oh and our neighbors had a mustache birthday party for their little boy and we were able to get the cutest family picture ever.  I also cut all of my hair off, and I love it.

A Winter Day in the Park

Today was a really pretty day and my husband took the day off from studying so we packed up the kids and coats and headed out to the "Big park" as L calls it.  They have a nice little duck pond and L loves to feed the ducks there.  L had a great time on the playground.
He wanted his dad to swing with him and he even dozed off for a few minutes...playing hard will do that to a person haha.
A lot of the pond had frozen over so L threw rocks on the ice and enjoyed the sound they made when they hit the ice.  He has loved throwing rocks in water since he was a baby so throwing them on frozen water added a new twist.  I think he thought it was pretty cool that the rocks just slid on top of the ice.

Baby J's Photo Shoot

I've caught some cute pictures of baby J again!  He's just a cutie, I can't resist posting pictures of him.
He's really into his feet lately, he pretty much loves them.

And of course he has the cutest smile ever.  I think my favorite thing about J is how happy he is.  I really have never seen a baby more happy than he is.  He laughs freely and is always quick to return a smile.  My husband and I will crack up because we will be talking to each other and look down and J is smiling huge at us.  L can make him laugh like nobody else though!
J really is enjoying all of his Christmas presents.  We switched his mobile the other day to another toy we got for him, it's a ring on a long ribbon.  He tries so hard to grab it and I've never seen a baby with more determination.
